Harris also called for “serious accountability for California’s utility companies” and addressing the role of climate change in exacerbating wildfire seasons and conditions.

“Californians should not have to live in fear of a wildfire season that seems to get worse with every passing year,” Harris said. “Fires are inevitable as part of the natural ecosystem, but the number of human-caused fires and the scale of destruction we’ve seen in recent memory is not.”
