Opinion: Cory Booker would work to lift up those who have been left behind

Cory won’t stop there. He also understands that when our nation faces great challenges, like climate change, that our low-income communities and communities of color often bear the brunt of the consequences. I really appreciate his approach to climate change through the lens of environmental justice, the idea that the communities hardest hit by climate change should be the focus of our efforts to combat this crisis and should be empowered to be part of the solution. Cory’s also not waiting to win the White House to make a difference. As the mayor of Newark, he took steps to green his city and this April, he helped found the Environmental Justice Caucus in the Senate.
