Ryan responded by stating that he believes the Republican party is a “disappointment” due to its inability to stand up to Trump. However, Ryan told voters in Ames that he is the guy who can reach across the aisle on issues such as the economy and climate change.

“I got mid-60 percent votes in my counties, and those counties were won by Trump,” Ryan said. “I’ve got a long list of things where I’ve worked with Republicans in economic development and local projects. We’ve got to make sure that we come together to address issues like climate change.”
