Letter to the Editor: Tom Steyer will address climate change

1/28/20

I’m planning to support Tom Steyer for president at the 2020 Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3. Let me tell you why.

Tom is the only Democratic candidate who plans to put climate change at the top of the priority list. In fact, he will use his presidential powers to declare a national climate emergency on January 20, 2021, and put into place an aggressive remediation and restoration plan that recognizes people’s rights to clean air, clean water, health, and good jobs built around climate solutions set forth in the Green New Deal.

Tom believes that by working together, the American people can confront what he accurately describes as “the biggest challenge in history — climate change.”

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think there’s a more urgent priority than reversing the damage that the current administration has done to climate protections by implementing an effective and sustainable environmental strategies moving forward.

Tom has a record of working diligently and successfully to engage citizens at the grassroots level to solve challenges related to big oil, big tobacco, and other corporate special interests. He knows how to beat big corporations and put our democracy back into the hands of the people.
