When it comes to taking action on the environment, Ryan said big, bold action is needed. He said climate change is an issue of particular concern to the U.S. military.

“They’re deathly afraid of what happens around the world when sea levels go up because that leads to migration, and migration leads to conflict and conflict leads to war,” he said. “And who has to come try to fix things, spend money, try to keep the peace? The West, you know, led by the United States.”

He said he would work to solve climate change by aligning environmental policy with financial incentives to make it profitable for companies to invest in a greener agenda.
