Sanders in Iowa

While a number of his proposals looked outward at the world’s usage, he said he sees the climate change in the U.S. as a forgone global issue.

“It’s an American problem. It’s a Russian problem. It’s a Chinese problem,” as he continued listing more countries in trouble. “What we need is not a president who denies the reality [of climate change]. We need a president that brings the world together and says ‘You know what, let’s go on transforming our energy system to save this entire planet for our kids and our generation.’”

To that, Sanders was highly complimentary of Iowa’s implementation of wind turbines that contributes roughly 35 percent of the state’s energy but advocated for even further increased use of renewable energy including weatherizing buildings.
