LCV Statement on First Night of Detroit Democratic Primary Debate

In response to the first night of the Detroit Democratic primary debate, the League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement from SVP of Government Affairs, Tiernan Sittenfeld:

“Following a powerful rally led by the Detroit communities most impacted by climate change, chronic pollution and toxic water, it was encouraging to see the presidential candidates spend more time discussing solutions to the climate crisis, environmental justice, and clean energy on the debate stage tonight than in the first night of the first debate. The majority of voters in Michigan and across the country want to see bold action on climate and move to a clean energy economy. We urge all presidential candidates to talk in detail about their plans to confront the climate crisis and prioritize environmental justice and call on all news outlets to ask in-depth questions about these issues. We hope to hear the climate crisis prioritized tomorrow night, every day on the campaign trail, and look forward to serious and thorough discussions of climate solutions at upcoming CNN and MSNBC led presidential climate forums.”
