Warren in Nevada

Warren detailed a two-pronged approach to mitigating wildfires and drought in the West: moving climate change up on the federal government’s action agenda and allocating additional congressional resources to fire prevention and water management. She said she’s been “shocked” to see Congress reluctant to boost resources for firefighters.

“In the off season, they don’t have the resources to go out and clear the roads and clear away brush and do the things that will put them in a stronger position to face the next fire season,” Warren said. “I’ve met with firefighters to talk about this. They know what they need to do. They just need the money to do it, and that’s where the federal government is falling short.”
